Within the BMBF funded joint project 6G-LICRIS (Liquid Crystal Reconfigurable Intelligent Surfaces for 6G Mobile Networks), the Institute for Large Area Microelectronics (IGM) organized a workshop "Liquid Crystal Technology for High Frequency Applications" on April 28, 2023. The aim was to explain assembly and principle of operation of liquid crystal cells to project partners as well as externals involved in the 6G-Platform. The IGM and MERCK held presentations on the topics “Fundamentals of Liquid Crystals”, “Control of Liquid Crystals” and “Special Features for High Frequency Applications”. At the end, the participants got a guided tour at the IGM, which gave them an interesting insight into the 480m² clean room lab.
